  • 1 GB RAM
  • 200 MB free hard disk space
These are the recommended Mac hardware requirements to run Yes Life for Mac:
  • 2.4GHz Intel processor MacBook or Mac Mini
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 200 MB free hard disk space
2. What if my computer is not that powerful?
Yes Life may run, but some features may not work.
3. What operating systems will Yes Life run on?
Currently, Yes Life runs on:
  • Windows XP SP3
  • Windows Vista SP2
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8
  • Mac OS X 10.7
  • Mac OS X 10.8
Please note that Yes Life requires Administrator privileges to install.
4. What kind of Internet connection does Yes Life for Windows and Mac need?
Yes Life runs great on the Yes 4G Network. However, Yes Life can also run on a normal wired or wireless connection, as long as the connection is reasonably fast and stable, and the protocols and ports Yes Life needs to run are not blocked. If you encounter issues, contact Customer Care and request the Yes Life Network Quick Guide.

If you have a software firewall, ensure it allows Yes Life to communicate freely with our servers. Office networks may cause Yes Life to lose its functionalities, occasionally even not being able to sign in due to hardware firewall settings.

If you require Yes Life to run in the office network, please ask your company's technical support to contact Customer Care for the details. If you are on a home network, certain routers settings may prohibit Yes Life from running properly. Kindly call our Customer Care and request the Yes Life Network Quick Guide.
5. I have an existing version of Yes Life already installed and I want to manually update it to the latest version that I've downloaded. What should I do?
First off, uninstall older versions of Yes Life and Connect (CD installation only). Once your uninstallation is complete, restart your computer. Follow the instructions to complete the installation process. If you have previously installed Yes Life from a CD which also installs Connect, you must uninstall the existing Connect and restart your computer first.
6. Adobe Air is asking for an update. Should I update?
Yes Life for Windows and Mac run on Adobe Air. We strongly recommend that Adobe Air be updated when prompted. Please note that Yes Life might not launch immediately after Adobe Air is updated. If you encounter this issue, please view the troubleshooting section, below.
7. I noticed Yes Life for Windows and Mac downloaded an update automatically. Will I be charged if I'm on the Yes 4G Network?
If you're on Yes 4G, you will not be charged with data usage for Yes Life software updates from Yes, whether they're automatic, or you download them yourself.
8. When I got a software update message, I pressed OK, Yes Life closed down but nothing seemed to happen after that.
When we update Yes Life for Windows and Mac, we do it in a very quiet way. Once you press OK, even though you don't see any activity, the installer is working in the background to update your software to the latest and greatest version. Once the upgrade is completed, Yes Life will re-launch itself. This will take approximately 3 to 5 minutes to complete.

IMPORTANT: Please don't shut down your PC while the update is being performed, as this may disrupt the installation.
9. I installed Yes Life for Mac and later uninstalled my Connect. But in doing so, my Yes Life stopped working!
This can happen when you uninstall an older version of Connect for Mac. The latest version of Connect will not have this issue. To fix this, just reinstall Yes Life for Mac; you can download the latest version for free from www.yes.my/support.do.
10. I am trying to install Yes Life on Mac OS X 10.8 and above. However, I received a notification that Yes Life is from an unknown developer. How do I proceed with the installation?
There are 2 ways to install Yes Life.
  • You can right-click the installer, select 'Open With' and click 'Installer'.You can then click 'Open' and proceed with the installation. OR
  • You can go to 'Settings' then click on 'Security and Privacy'. Then choose 'Anywhere' as shown below.
Note: This will allow you to install any application downloaded from the Internet regardless of whether it is from an identified developer or not.
Running Yes Life
1. What is the best way to experience Yes Life?
Yes Life runs great on Yes 4G, but also works in most of the Internet connections.
2. I'm having trouble signing in to Yes Life for Mac and Windows. What's wrong?
Please check the following:
  • Ensure that you are connected to the Internet
  • Ensure that your Yes ID is active
  • Ensure that you have Administrator rights to run Yes Life
  • Restart Yes Life and try signing in again
  • Restart your computer and try signing in again
  • Download the latest version of Yes Life from www.yes.my/support. Uninstall your current version and install the one you just downloaded. Try signing in again
  • If you're still having trouble, please contact YesCare
3. Can I sign in to Yes Life on my Buzz, Zoom or Yes Life for iOS/Android at the same time?
Yes you can. However, if you sign in to Yes Life on another PC running Windows or Mac OS, your current connected session will be disconnected.

Here's a complete list of where you can be signed on to Yes Life at the same time:
  • Yes Life for Windows or Yes Life for Mac or Yes Life Web (one machine at a time)
  • Home phone via Zoom 4G gateway
  • Buzz 4G Cloud Phone or Yes Life for Android, iOS on your iPhone or iPod touch (one at a time)
  • iOS on your iPad
  • Eclipse
4. Does Yes Life for Windows and Mac have the same communications features as the Buzz 4G Cloud Phone?
For the most part, yes.

On the Buzz, there are also some small differences in experience you may encounter:
  • When editing your Profile or Address Book on the Yes Life for Windows and Mac, the IM and Social Network fields will not display on the Buzz
  • If you update your Yes status on Buzz, that status overwrites the "About Me" field on your profile in Yes Life
  • When you create a group in Yes Life for Windows or Mac, it will not sync the group to the Buzz and vice versa
Address Book & Friends
1. What is a Profile?
A profile is information about yourself, including your current status update, that you share with your Yes friends. We recommend starting by setting up a profile photo of yourself so your friends can see your photo on their contact list.
2. What is a Yes "friend?"
A Yes friend is another Yes subscriber with whom you would like to share your presence (which shows your online states), status message (a personal message shared with your Yes friends) and profile, as well as the ability to send and receive video calls and instant messages, and transfer files. To add a friend, just click on menu and choose "Add a Friend." When your friend sends you a request, you can choose to "Accept" or "Ignore" by clicking on "Notifications" at the top right corner of the Yes Life contact list.
3. My friend sent me a request but I didn't accept it immediately. The next time I sign in on another computer, it's gone!
Currently, friend Request only stays on the computer where you received the notification. Signing into another computer will not display the friend request notification.
4. How do I see my friend's presence information, which tells me when they're online?
There are two ways to see a friend's presence information:
  • First, we have created a special group called "Favourites". All friends in your Favourites group will show updated presence in real-time. You should move all of your most-frequently contacted friends into the Favourites group - up to 30 at one time.
  • Second, you can see the presence of any Yes friend in another group on the contact list simply by clicking once on their name in the contact list.
5. My friends are using Yes Life for iOS/Android and are online. Why can't I see their presence information?
Yes Life for iOS and Android does not support presence information.
6. Some friends in my contact list do not have IM or video call icons. Why is that?
IM and video calls can only be initiated with a friend who is online. If your contact is not a Yes subscriber you will not see the icons at all. If your friend is a Yes subscriber, the icon will be disabled when your friend is offline or is using Yes Life for iOS/Android.
7. Loading my contacts seems to take a long time.
If you have a lot of contacts and friends, Yes Life for Windows and Mac may take a minute or two to display them all.
SMS
1. Can I send a message to more than one recipient at a time?
Yes, you can! If your friend is listed in your contact list, simply key in your friend's name and select the number you want to send to and repeat this step until you completed your selection. Alternatively, you can key in a telephone number or Yes ID followed by a comma ("," without the quotes) if you plan to send a message to people who are not in your contact list.
2. Where are my SMS messages that I have received earlier?
The system stores up messages from the last three Yes Life sessions only. When you sign in for the fourth time, messages received from the first session will be deleted. Please note that if you uninstall Yes Life for Windows and Mac, your SMS history will also be removed.
3. I received my SMS on Yes Life for Windows (or Mac) but did not get it on my Buzz or Yes Life on iOS.
This will occur only if your other device was not connected at the time you receive the SMS on Yes Life for Windows and Mac. The SMS was successfully received on Yes Life and will not be sent to the other devices since you have received it. Vice versa, if you are connected to another SMS capable device but not signed in to Yes Life for Windows and Mac, only the said device will receive the SMS. If you have both Yes Life for Windows and Mac and the other device connected, both will receive the SMS.
4. Yes Life for Windows and Mac displayed an error dialog when I tried to send an SMS.
This indicates that the SMS was not sent successfully. Please try again.
5. What's the difference between SMS and IM?
IM stands for Instant Message. You will only be able to send IMs to your Yes Life Friends. Instant messages will be charged based on data usage -- a much better value than SMS when your friends are on Yes!

Yes SMS works exactly like any SMS – you can send a text message via SMS from your Yes mobile number to any other mobile number, even to another Yes account.
6. Why can't I send MMS messages on Yes?
We did not include MMS in Yes simply because the costs do not justify its benefits. With Yes, you can transfer a file wirelessly and only pay for the size of the file (up to 15 times larger than MMS), or send an email.
Instant Messaging (IM)
1. How do I start an IM with multiple people?
To do that, please start by chatting with a single friend. Then, click the "+" icon in the chat window to add more people.
2. Why can't I add my contact to a group chat?
Please make sure the contact you want to add is your friend first before adding him to a group chat.
File Transfer
1. Can I send a file to a friend on Yes Life for Windows and Mac?
Yes you can. Start an IM with the friend you want to send the file to. Then, click on the up arrow icon, and select the file you want to transfer. Wait for your friend to accept the file. Do take note that if you friend waits more than 30 seconds to accept the file transfer, for security reasons, Yes Life will end the file transfer invitation.
2. Can I send a file when I am in a group IM?
Currently, you can only send a file when you are in an IM chat with a single friend.
Calls
1. I can't see who is calling me! It just shows up as an "Unknown caller." Why?
You may have disabled Caller Line Identification Presentation (CLIP). You can enable it by dialling the number *30# in Yes Life. You will hear a voice announcement confirming CLIP has been enabled. From now on you will see caller ID of all future calls. Please see the Value Added Services section for more details.
2. I'm on the Yes 4G Network. Will I be charged for data used by Yes Life calls and SMS?
No, you will not be charged for the data usage when making voice calls, video calls and SMS while you are on the Yes 4G Network. Charges may apply when you are using non-Yes Internet connections.
3. How do I make long distance calls in Yes Life for Windows and Mac?
Yes Life for Windows and Mac works for any domestic call to any operator or landline as well as for IDD calls. If you have difficulties making an IDD call, try to use the prefix "+" or "00".
Value Added Services (VAS)
1. What are the value-added voice services provided by Yes which Yes Life for Windows and Mac can use?

2. How do I access my voicemail?
When signed in with your Yes ID, please dial 121 on Yes Life or any Yes handset to access your voice mail. As a security measure, you will be asked for your password. If you are accessing your voicemail for the first time, the default password is "0000" and you will be prompted to change the default password.
3. I totally forgot my voicemail password.
Please call YesCare at 018-333 0000 (charges of 9 sen/minute apply) for assistance on resetting your voicemail password.
4. How do I access voicemail using other Yes IDs, non-Yes voice services and from overseas?
You can access your voicemail by dialling 018 8080 121. To access from overseas, include the country code with the number (i.e. +6 018 8080 121).
5. What are the rates for accessing voicemail?
Access to voicemail will be charged at standard nationwide rate of 9 sen per minute.
Troubleshooting Guide
1. Yes Life for Windows or Mac is not launching.
The most likely cause of this is that a previous session of Yes Life didn't end completely.

On Windows:
Please start the Windows Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc), end any of the following processes that you see running, and try to start Yes Life again. (If Windows warns you about stopping a running process, just accept and end the process.)
  • icf.exe
  • YesLife.exe
  • YesLifeGUI.exe
  • YesLife_sdlmgr.exe

On Mac OS X:
Please start the Activity Monitor (Applications->Utilities->Activity Monitor), end any of the following processes that you see running, and try to start Yes Life again.
  • icf
  • YesLife
  • YesLifeGUI
  • YesLifeSdlMgr
2. Yes Life keeps crashing or stops responding! What should I do?
Don't panic! Please send the software logs for our engineers to troubleshoot for you.

On Windows:
To do so, please go to:
  • For 64-bit OS: C:\Program Files (x86)\Yes\Yes Life\ims_enablers\exe\
  • For 32-bit OS: C:\Program Files\Yes\Yes Life\ims_enablers\exe\
  • Double-click: Yes Life_Log_Collector.bat
    • A black DOS window will appear while the logs are generated.
    • When complete, the logs will open in a new Windows Explorer window.
    • Collect all the files into a single zip archive, e-mail them to yescare@yes.my for further investigation. Remember to provide a description of your problem, as well as your Yes ID (but NEVER your password!)

On Mac OS:
To do so, please go to:
  • /users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Yes/Local Store
Collect the following log files if present:
    • icf_logs.txt
    • IMSC_logs.txt
    • mm_al_logs.txt
    • mmfr_log.txt
    • msrp_logs.txt
    • YesLife_Log.txt
    • UIlog.txt
    • uilogger.log
  • /users/username/Library/Preferences/Yes/
Collect backup log folder "YesLife_Logs" if present
  • OR run Yes LifeMac Log Collector.app from Applications\Yes\YesLife\ Yes LifeMac Log Collector.app. The logs will be saved to your Desktop in a zip file. The naming convention of the zip file will be YesLifeMacLogs_yymmdd_hhmmss_username.zip
  • Please collect all the files into a single zip archive, e-mail them to yescare@yes.my for further investigation. Remember to provide a description of your problem, as well as your Yes ID (but NEVER your password!).
3. My friend requests went missing!
Restarting Yes Life should fix this. However, if a friend request was sent and you received a notification indicating the request was not sent, you may have to try again by first deleting the current friend request and sending the request again.

Also, because Yes Life for iOS does not support friend request at this time, sending any friend request there will result in loss of the friend request. Friend request will be available on iOS in future releases.
4. Why can't I make a video call - it keeps saying call ended immediately after I start the call?
There can be a few causes of this problem:
  • Not enough balance in your account; check online at www.yes.my
  • Making a video call to a friend who has no webcam
  • Making a video call when you don't have a webcam
  • You have a webcam but the webcam is being used by another application. If so, please quit all applications which may use the webcam (e.g. Skype, xlite, etc.).
  • There's a conflict with existing video capture hardware. For example in some touch screen media computers, built-in TV tuners can cause this issue. To fix this, please disable or uninstall the conflicting hardware first before making the video call. If you require assistance, please call YesCare.
5. The video call is blurry!
The most common cause of video call quality issues is the speed and stability of your connection. This is especially common on public Wi-Fi Internet services, or when your Yes 4G signal strength is low. Otherwise, there are existing issues with certain webcam drivers which Yes Life for Windows and Mac does not fully support (yet). Please contact Customer Care so that we can get the details of your machine and increase the support hardware in future updates of Yes Life.
