YTL Communications Donates Computers To U.S. Fulbright English Teaching Assistants



Kuala Lumpur, 20 January 2015 - YTL Communications donated 100 Chromebook laptops with 4G Internet packages to the 100 American Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) who will teach in various schools throughout Malaysia in 2015. The 100 Fulbright ETAs from the United States have just arrived in Malaysia to serve in various schools in Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Kelantan, and Perlis. The computers will be used to assist with English language education in all of the participating schools.

CEO of YTL Communications, Wing K. Lee, shared, ""Education is very important to us at YTL. It is our hope that by empowering the Fulbright Scholars with key technologies of the 1BestariNet, as well as Chromebooks complete with 4G connectivity and the Frog Virtual Learning Environment, engaging contents for English learning can be created and the impact will multiply to schools throughout the country."

U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia, Joseph Y. Yun, said "The U.S. government truly appreciates this donation by YTL. This technology will help our American teachers in the classroom and will have a positive impact on the education of their Malaysian students."

The Fulbright ETA program is a joint program administered by the Malaysia-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) and the Malaysian Ministry of Education and supported by the U.S. Embassy. This is the tenth year of the program, which began as a joint effort between the U.S. State Department and the Terengganu State government in 2005.
